Chapter 5 · 5.6
Team folders: a shared folder that belongs to the team
An ordinary shared folder belongs to one person. A team folder doesn't belong to anyone in particular: it belongs to the team. This is ideal for a club, a business or a family, where people come and go but the files need to stay.
Where do you find Team folders?
In Files, click Team folders on the left (1). This shows all the team folders you have access to. They also simply appear among your other folders under All files.

Shared folder or team folder?
| Shared folder | Team folder | |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns it? | The person who created it | The team |
| Someone leaves | If they're the owner, the folder must first be transferred | The folder simply stays in place |
| Storage | Counts towards the owner | Doesn't count towards one person |
| Who creates it? | Any user | WebOké, at your request |
Requesting a team folder
WebOké creates a team folder for you; you can't do this yourself. Would you like one? Create a ticket in My WebOké and let us know what name the folder should have and which team or people should have access. First create the team in the Teams app (see Creating teams and sharing a folder with your whole team), so the team folder can be linked to that team straight away. Team folders are available in Personal, Family and Max, but not in Nextcloud Free.
Tip: want to get started right away? Create an ordinary folder and share it with the team. Once the team folder is ready, move the files there. A club or family folder that doesn't disappear when someone leaves explains how to do this.
