Chapter 15 · 15.1
Nextcloud is unreachable or slow: check this first
Won't your WebOké Nextcloud open, or is everything running very slowly? Then work through these steps. Often you'll know what's going on within a few minutes, and otherwise you'll have the information we need straight away.
Nextcloud doesn't open at all
- Check for an outage or maintenance. You'll find outages and planned maintenance at www.weboke.nl/storingen.
- Check the address. Type the full address of your Nextcloud, with https:// in front, for example https://yourname.webokecloud.nl. If you use Nextcloud Free, the address is https://free.webokecloud.nl.
- Try a different device or network. Turn off wifi on your phone and open your Nextcloud over mobile internet. Does it work there? Then the problem lies with your own network, or your network's address is being throttled after too many failed login attempts. See Can't log in: code, password or rate limiting.
- Do you see a message? For a warning about an insecure connection, read Certificate warning or insecure connection. For a message about maintenance, read The "Maintenance mode" message.
- Ask the AI assistant. Log in to Mijn WebOké and open the AI Centrum. For example, ask: My Nextcloud isn't working. The AI assistant then checks whether your Nextcloud is undergoing maintenance, whether an update is running, and whether the address you're currently connecting from is being throttled.
Nextcloud is slow
- Is it the browser? Try a private window or a different browser. If it's fast there, clear your regular browser's cache or turn off extensions one by one.
- Is a large upload or sync running? Are you or a colleague uploading lots of files right now, or is the desktop app syncing a large folder for the first time? Then everything will be a bit slower for a while. Wait until it's finished.
- Very many files in one folder? A folder with thousands of files loads more slowly. Spread them across subfolders.
- Lots of photos? The first time you open a large folder of photos, Nextcloud generates the preview images. It's faster the next time.
- Is only the desktop app slow or stuttering? Read Synchronisation on your computer is stuttering. If photo upload on your phone stops, read Photo upload on your phone stops.
Still no luck?
