Chapter 15 · 15.7
Certificate warning or insecure connection
Your browser or app reports that the connection is not secure or not private, or that the certificate is incorrect. Don't just click through. With a WebOké Nextcloud, the connection is always secured with a valid certificate. A warning means something isn't right.
You've just set up a custom address
This is the most common cause. Are you using your own subdomain, such as cloud.yourcompany.com (see Your Nextcloud on your own domain (cloud.yourcompany.com))? We can only create the certificate once that address points to our server.
- Check with your DNS manager whether the subdomain has an A record (IPv4) and an AAAA record (IPv6) pointing to the addresses we gave you.
- Is there still an old record for the same subdomain, such as a CNAME or an AAAA record pointing to a different server? Remove it. Otherwise, some devices may still reach the old server.
- A DNS change can sometimes take a few hours before everyone sees it. Until then, use the old address at webokecloud.nl, which will keep working.
Other causes
- A typo in the address. Check that you're using the correct address, with https:// in front of it.
- The date or time on your device is incorrect. This can make a certificate appear expired or not yet valid. Set the date and time to automatic.
- A virus scanner or company network that inspects traffic. Some virus scanners and company networks insert their own certificate between your device and the server. Try a different network, such as mobile internet.
- A public wifi network, such as in a hotel, sometimes shows you a login page first. Open another website first to deal with that page.
The message Access through untrusted domain
Do you see the message Access through untrusted domain instead of a certificate warning? Then your Nextcloud doesn't recognise the address you're using. Use the address shown next to Open Nextcloud on your package page in My WebOké. If that address is correct and you still see the message, contact support. Only we can resolve this.
Please note: never log in if your browser warns that the connection isn't secure, especially not on a public network. If in doubt, contact us and mention the address and the exact message (How to report a problem to WebOké).
