Chapter 5 · 5.15
Cancelling or transferring a domain
If you no longer need a domain name, you cancel it. If you want to give it to someone else who's also a customer at WebOké, you transfer it. You do both on the domain page, in the Advanced Features card.

Cancelling a domain
- Click the Cancel domain button next to Cancel domain (1). The Cancel domain window opens.
- Choose how you want to cancel. The options you see depend on the timing (see below).
- Optionally, give a reason. Click one of the buttons or type it in your own words. This isn't required, but it helps us learn.
- Click the red button to cancel, or Cancel to leave things unchanged.

The options in the window
- Cancel (the domain name stays active until the end date): the domain simply keeps working until the end date and won't be renewed after that. This is the usual choice.
- Cancel and delete now: the domain is cancelled and deleted immediately. Website, e-mail and DNS on this name will stop working straight away. The remaining term isn't refunded.
- If there's already an outstanding renewal invoice, you choose whether to cancel as of the previous due date (the outstanding renewal invoice is credited) or as of the new due date (you still use the term already invoiced).
- If the new term has already started, the window shows from which date cancellation is possible. The domain simply stays active until that date.
Please note: if the domain is part of a hosting package, that package isn't automatically cancelled along with it. The window shows a link to cancel the package separately. See Cancelling, undoing cancellation, or transferring a product.
After cancelling, you'll see the Undo cancellation link in the Advanced Features card. Use it to reverse the cancellation as long as the domain is still active. A button then also appears to delete the domain name immediately. Only do this if you're sure you'll never need it again: this can't be undone. A deleted .nl domain goes into quarantine for 40 days. During that time, only you can have it retrieved.
Transferring a domain to another customer
With Transfer to another customer, you move a domain, or several separate domains, to another WebOké account. There are no costs involved.
- Click Transfer.
- Choose which domains you want to transfer.
- Enter the recipient's e-mail address twice, and your own password to confirm.
- Click Transfer in the window.
The recipient receives an e-mail with an acceptance link that's valid for 24 hours. The domain is only transferred once accepted. The holder's details are transferred along with it. As long as the recipient hasn't accepted yet, you can withdraw the transfer with Withdraw transfer.
If the domain is part of a hosting package, it shows that the domain can only be transferred together with the whole package. Use Go to the package (2) to go to the product page, where you transfer the package including domains (see Cancelling, undoing cancellation, or transferring a product). Transferring is only possible from the main account. You can read how transferring and merging whole accounts works in Transferring and merging accounts.
